Nicky Slavid

For Nicky, it’s all about food. Her journey into hospitality began at the age of 14 when she took up a role as a waitress in a local tea room famed for its exquisite coffees and Belgian chocolates. From that moment, she was hooked. Over the years, she has worked in bars, clubs, and events – anything to keep her close to the world of food.

Whilst pregnant with her second child, Nicky made the bold decision to retrain as a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner—a move inspired by a desire to swap sweating in the kitchen for more polished shoes – and of course, her interest in the structured approach of HACCP played a huge part (although she admits that might not sound as glamorous!).

After qualifying, she began her career with a large consultancy, offering food safety and health and safety guidance to multinational companies. Later, she moved in-house, working for brands such as EAT and Starbucks EMEA, where her role expanded to include security responsibilities. 

Since joining Safer Food Scores, Nicky has watched the technical team go from strength to strength. Their combined expertise of over 50 years in senior operational roles and another 50 in local authority regulation is nothing short of remarkable—and a real asset to clients. For Nicky, the ever-changing nature of the work and its challenges keeps things fresh and exciting. 

In her free time, Nicky enjoys exploring European cities, soaking up their food, music, and culture. Closer to home, she loves cooking or diving into her latest DIY project. She’s particularly proud of having hung her first wallpaper recently and has even added a mouse sander to her wish list!
