Who’s it for?
The Level 3 Award in Food Allergen Management training course in Catering is a qualification aimed at individuals responsible for the purchase, delivery, production and serving of food in the catering industry and is also suitable for those who own/manage a small catering business.

This qualification is suitable for learners aged 16 or above. It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 2 in literacy and numeracy or equivalent. It is strongly advised that learners already hold a Level 2 Food Safety  or Level 2 Food Allergen Awareness certificates or suitable equivalents.

What’s it about?
Topics covered include the manager’s role in ensuring food ingredients are effectively managed, accurate communication of ingredient information from supplier to consumer, the importance of practical controls to reduce the risk of allergenic contamination and methods of managing ingredient controls and procedures.

Its topics are regarded by the Food Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.

How is it assessed?
There is a one hour 30 question multiple-choice test at the end of the day and you need 18 out of 30 to pass or 24 out of 30 to achieve a distinction. Following the course you will be sent a Level 3 Award in Food Allergen Management in Catering. The certificate is generally considered to remain current for three years.
