Who’s the Level 2 allergen awareness course for?
The Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness and Control in Catering is a qualification aimed at food handlers and other staff involved in the food preparation and service who work within the Catering Industry. Regular courses take place at our Central London training venue.

There are no prerequisites for this qualification other than to be 14 years of age. It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English or equivalent.

We also offer an online Introduction to Food Allergens course and one day Level 3 Award in Food Allergen Management course.

What’s it about?
Learners gaining this qualification will know and understand the food allergens and foods that commonly cause intolerances, their characteristics and effects, the importance of effectively communicating information regarding allergic ingredients to customers and how staff can minimise the risk of cross-contamination from allergenic ingredients.

How is it assessed?
There is a half hour 15 question multiple-choice test at the end of the day and you need 9 out of 15 to pass. Following the course you will be sent a Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness and Control in Catering. The certificate is generally considered to remain current for three years.

What will I get out of it?
The Level 2 Award in Food Allergen Awareness and Control in Catering will provide you with knowledge to identify food allergens in recipes and to communicate effectively with allergic customers. This qualification is supported by Allergy UK who regard it as suitable staff training for catering outlets that wish to apply for their Allergy Aware Scheme.

How much does it cost?
Open courses cost £85.

We can also hold courses at your premises which if you have 5 or more people to train (and a suitable room) you could save money.
