Who’s it for?
The Level 4 food and hygiene course certificate is aimed at managers working in a food or drink environment. This is a higher level qualification and not suitable for online learning. We offer the Managing Food Safety in Catering, Managing Food Safety in Retail and Managing Food Safety in Manufacturing courses – the choice of which exam you sit is up to you. This qualification is also one of the qualifying criteria for those who wish to train others at foundation food hygiene level.
What options are available?
We offer the Level 4 food hygiene certificate as accredited face-to-face, virtual (trainer video with online support) and remote (streamed) training.
Ideally you should already have an intermediate (level 3) food hygiene certificate and a good level of literacy and numeracy. Arrangements are in place for special needs.

How is it assessed?
There is a 30-question multiple-choice examination and a 2 ½ hour written examination where learners choose 4 from 6 questions. Successful learners must achieve a total of at least 60 marks out of 100 across the two parts of the exam. A Merit will be awarded at 70/100 and a Distinction will be awarded at 80/100.
What will I get out of it?
The aim of the five day Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety training course is to make you aware of a manager’s responsibilities with regard to food safety. It focuses on how to develop, implement and monitor safe and cost-effective food safety procedures.
How much does it cost?
Open courses cost between £750-£800 depending on the venue.
We can also hold courses at your premises which if you have 5 or more people to train (and a suitable room) you could save money.
