Technical DirectorEmma’s journey into Environmental Health was inspired by her early experiences working in food businesses and conversations with her aunt, who worked as a Port Health Environmental Health Officer. After qualifying, Emma worked for several London local authorities, including Westminster, and dedicated nearly 20 years to Barnet Council, where she specialised in food safety and health and safety.
After years of prevaricating whether to transition from the public sector to the private sector, Emma hasn’t once regretted her decision. As a Technical Director at Safer Food Scores, she thrives on the variety and challenge her role brings. She credits the Safer Food Scores team for being incredibly hard-working, talented, and supportive. Emma recalls how warmly she was welcomed and, in good humour, notes that she has made a lasting impression as the most accident-prone member of the team after running over her own work laptop in her first week!
Her career has honed her exceptional interpersonal skills, allowing her to connect with a wide variety of people and share her valuable knowledge.
In her free time, Emma can often be found travelling around the country, cheering on her two daughters as they play football. She also enjoys walking her beloved Golden Doodle, Molly, and getting lost in a good book.
