Unannounced BRC audits for Asda suppliers
ASDA have announced that food manufacturers making ASDA brand products will, from October 2013, be required to have their BRC (British Retail Consortium) audits undertaken unannounced.
The absence of key management will not be considered a justifiable cause for an audit not to go ahead.
The unannounced audit will take place typically within the last 3 or 4 months of the certification cycle e.g. if your last audit was in April your unannounced audit could be anytime between January and April.
The audit will commence within 30 minutes of the auditor arriving on site. If the auditor arrives for the audit and is denied access the site’s certification will be suspended.
