SALSA helps suppliers gain funding
Despite very challenging times for all food producers, SALSA (Small and local Supplier Approval) continues to find suppliers funding opportunities to help them gain SALSA approval.
In 2010 SALSA welcomed over 350 new members and saw over 175 businesses gain the SALSA certification for the first time. More than 36% of SALSA members who have received their initial approval audit gained funding as a result.
Safer Food Scores SALSA (Small and Local Supplier Approval) mentoring services have been much in demand recently. Many companies are looking to local suppliers to save money as well as improve the sustainability of their food supply.
Using only suppliers that have BRC (British Retail Consortium) accreditation or equivalent is an excellent way for to ensure your ingredients are safe but isn’t suitable for small suppliers. SALSA accreditation is a nationally recognised standard that you should encourage your smaller suppliers to attain.
