Rosenthal loses compensation claim against the Fat Duck
TV sports presenter Jim Rosenthal has lost his claim against Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck restaurant for a refund for a £1,300 meal that poisoned him and his guests in a norovirus outbreak last year. The claim was dismissed at Oxford County Court after Mr Blumenthal’s lawyer said that ‘generous’ compensation of £1,500 each, plus costs, had already been paid.A spokesman for The Fat Duck, in Bray, Berkshire, said: ‘Heston did make a full apology to Mr Rosenthal and invited him to return to the restaurant as his guest.‘We were very sorry that no matter how hard we tried to resolve this matter, court proceedings were instigated.’
